Tuxedo shirt upcycle.

My lovely friend Sophia who can be seen sporting one of my makes in an earlier post has a husband who is a gifted op-shopper. Much respect is felt. Sometimes he finds things for me. Joy!

One such time was when I was delivered a pile of old tuxedos. In that pile was a large old-fashioned tuxedo shirt which I altered to make into a shift style dress / top.

I removed the sleeves, took the sides in and extended the side seams to the curve of the hem, sewed the placket closed, and then reset the sleeves into the new sleeve head. I also shortened the sleeves (obviously!)

I love it. Despite the fact that my husband made the faux pas of saying I looked like a lab assistant the first time I wore it! 😉

I’m also sporting a summer coat that I made from vintage linen a couple of years ago using Simplicity 2311 in this next shot. I love mixing white and cream – such a rebel!
